ZF Marine POD 4000 - propulsion system for 1200 hp engines

ZF expands its range of POD propulsion systems upward with the 4000 series, designed for boats up to 75' lengths. 1.200-horsepower diesel engines, such as the new V8-1200 MAN, are supposed to use the new POD 4000 to unfold their strength inside the water. A POD sits underneath the hull, is easy to turn and lends the boat a sporty rapid control behavior.
Highes performance, maneuverability and efficiency
This new propulsion system is suitable for large yachts powered by engines up to 1200 hp and comprises a standard transmission mounted to a steerable pod unit with twin, counter-rotating propellers. The superior efficiency of the ZF POD, compared to traditional propulsion systems, results in increased cruising speed of up to 15% with the same installed power. This improved performance is accompanied by up to 20% reduction in fuel consumption.
