Sports cruisers at boot 2010 - a selection

Sports cruisers offer a large cockpit with sliding roof, outside steering position for excursions in good weather, plus a saloon and/or sleeping cabins in the foward part.

On the Nimbus 25’ Paragon (7.60 m) from Sweden, designed for rough seas, the advice of coastguards and lifeboat crews has been taken into consideration. The hull is steeply bilged at 26.5º m with two floats on the outer edge to give stability even in narrow bends. A 260-horsepower motor provides an invigorating top speed of 38.5 knots.

Windy (Norway) is displaying a revised special version of the 32‘ Grand Tornado and 37‘ Grand Mistral with revolving IPS Pod drives by Volvo Penta.

The Sundeck 305 (10.15 m) from the US shipyard Sea Ray is their first in the 10 m class with a hardtop above the helm stand in the cockpit.

Fairline (Great Britain) have come up with the Targa 44‘ Gran Turismo (13.40 m) - with two cabins and a generous cockpit behind the salon on the main deck.

On the Monte Carlo 42‘ (13.70 m) by Bénéteau from France, the Air Step system in the hull aims to save fuel. The tender in the rear compartment can be lowered into the water using a cable winch. Generous headroom and harmonious living space distributed on several levels ensure that even below deck in the salon and three berths no sense of anxiety arises.

A newcomer to Germany, the Antares 42‘ (13.99 m), which just about reaches 30 knots, crowns Bénéteau's range of tour boats as the successor to the Antares 12. A fly bridge has been incorporated into these elegantly elongated lines. Using the same concept - but on a smaller scale - led to the worldwide new entry 10.22 m long Antares 30’S.

The caravan-style build of the 14.20, Stromberg 46‘ (14.20 m) provides a step-free living space on a single level. The roof is used as a 30 m2 sun deck. With two 370-horsepower diesel motors it can reach up to 22 knots.

The newcomer to Germany Sunseeker Portofino 48‘ (15.39 m) from England has become marginally longer than its predecessor Portofino 47‘, with a completely revised interior. The owner's berth stretches across the width of the stern. The double bed in the VIP guest berth at the front can be converted into two single beds. It is propelled by a Pod motor that makes manoeuvring child's play.

On the fair-weather boat Brandaris Q52 (15.80 m) from the Netherlands, the helm stand can be found in the large cockpit with its numerous seats and loungers und a hardtop, tying in with the design of the Fjord 40‘ by Hanse Yachts.
