The starting shot for the greatest sailing event in the world and the biggest summer festival in Northern Europe will be fired on 18 June 2005. During the following eight days the watchword will be: the world is our guest in KIEL. SAILING CITY!

Enthusiastic guests
87.5 per cent of the visitors rate the Kiel Week as "very good" or "good"; 85 per cent are enthusiastic regular guests who keep coming back and their economic power is comparable to that of a large commercial company. These results of a representative questionnaire conducted by the Institute for Economic Geography at the Christian-Albrecht-University in Kiel demonstrate clearly that the Kiel Week is an impressive and successful event which not only regularly attracts several million guests to the capital of the province Schleswig-Holstein, but also provides considerable economic impetus throughout the entire region.

Tryst in Kiel
Each year during the last week of June, the city of Kiel transforms itself into a pulsating international meeting place. Politicians and diplomats, scientists and artists, sailors and sportspeople from about 70 nations have a tryst in the cosmopolitan city at the Fjord. The unique ambience of the Kiel Week attracts an international public.
