Allen 30mm Dynamic Blocks use the same high quality Dynamic bearing, materials and precision engineering as our 20mm Dynamic Block range. Our high strength and rope friendly stainless steel ultra-strap makes them amongst the strongest and most reliable ball bearing blocks in their class. The range is available with different types of accessories including lacing eyes, hooks, swivels and cleats. The range also features a central rivet that provides great options as a tie on becket. You’ll find a 30mm block to suit most control line applications.

50mm Dynamic Blocks

Allen 50mm Dynamic Blocks utilise our patented Dynamic bearing technology, the high quality stainless steel ball bearings running on stainless steel rails provides unsurpassed performance under load. The large central hole for tie-on becket requirements gives this block range a distinctive style and significant weight reduction and is available with a variety of accessories. Suitable for numerous demanding applications on boats, including Catamarans and Keelboats,the multi blocks provides great free running performance under load. Single variations feature a swivel lock, located at the head of the block. The variations with two or more sheaves have a similar feature but utilise a removable plastic moulding.

Dynamic Tii Blocks

Our range of Tii blocks is the modern design for soft attachment. The range features the same bearing system as our Dynamic range but loses the Ultra-Strap to save weight. What differentiates our Tii blocks from other tie on designs is the large stainless-steel ring at the head of the block. This ring is designed to stop the block from capsizing once tied into a system as well as reducing the chance of the cheeks splitting apart. However, when splicing these blocks to an attachment that is wider than the block, a boom for example, it is still recommended that a cross splice is used to reduce the chance of splitting the cheeks.

Cam Cleats

Aluminium Ball Bearing Cam Cleats have had over 60 years of meticulous R&D to perfect their design, the jaw profile is optimised for rope entry and exit which results in smooth cleating and un-cleating without chewing rope whilst doing so. The addition of ball bearings and double coil springs gives a super smooth cam action, allowing for a consistent feel every time the rope is cleated. The aluminium cam cleat is designed to be more durable and is capable of withstanding higher loads thanks to the strength of the die-cast aluminium jaws at the expense of being slightly heavier than the Allenite version. This makes the aluminium version perfect for applications which may have a fast running control line, such as a spinnaker halyard, mainsheet or jib sheet. Allenite Plain Bearing Cam Cleats feature the same jaw profile as the aluminium version but are moulded from a proprietary material developed by Allen specifically for low weight and good heat dissipation to increase wear resistance over standard acetals. The removal of ball bearings offers a further weight reduction and softer coil springs allow the rope to drop into the jaws with less load. The Allenite version offers a good weight saving over the aluminium version.

New Articulating Blocks

Introducing a new concept for double and triple blocks – the articulating block range.

Double and triple sheaved blocks are an important part of many rigging systems, especially if you are wanting to reduce the load of a line. However, sometimes the lead angle for the rope when exiting a double or triple block isn’t quite right and can cause twisting or rubbing of the rope against the cheek of the block.

To solve the problem the Allen design team have developed a simple solution which utilises existing products.

The articulating range features the normal double or triple block setup but the spacer moulding between each cheek has been removed as well as the central rivet which holds the blocks together. The result is a set of blocks attached to the same double or triple ultra-strap but each can articulate separately of one another. 

The new articulating range was first developed with feedback from International Moth sailors who had been looking for a new solution for their internal boom mainsheet system. Since then, the range has been tested in a variety of systems and has proved to reduce overall friction.

“As each block can articulate to the correct lead angle the rope now runs more centrally on all sheaves, this reduces the friction in the system as well as making the block last longer due to the cheek not being worn away.” commented Darren Elwell, Design Manager at Allen.

The articulating range is available in 20mm and 30mm sheave sizes and in double and triple options.

Backstay Blocks

30mm dynamic blocks are one of the most versatile products in our range and so they are great for use in many different systems. Most recently we have started manufacturing the single version onto a stainless-steel ring for sportsboat backstay systems. 

The configuration of two or three single blocks assembled around a ring gives a refined and streamlined product with maximum strength. The ring also allows the blocks to move freely and as such they can each align to the correct lead angle for the rope without any impediment. The breaking load for both the A2030R2 and A2030R3 is set by the single blocks, this is 750Kg, which is more than strong enough for most triangle backstay arrangements on sportsboats.

Flanged Aluminium Deck Bush

A through deck bush, also known as a fairlead, is designed to protect a surface from a rubbing rope or wire, they can also be used to act as a deflecting point.

In most applications, a through deck bush is used to guide a rope through a surface, such as the thwart or strut of a boat. It also offers protection to the material the rope or wire is passing through. 

Through deck bushes are a suitable product for a wide range of applications, so due to the variety, we offer them in many different materials and shapes.

Our newest range of flanged aluminium deck bushes feature a wider surface area with two fixing holes, allowing for a simple installation which only requires two screws and no messy bonding agent or silicone.

Four sizes are now available, all of which match the existing range of nylon flanged deck bushes. Making replacement of an old worn-out plastic deck bush with a new aluminium version easy and seamless.

The new range is milled in-house at the Allen factory in Essex from marine grade 6082 aluminium and anodised in a variety of six colours to allow for a personalised touch or to colour code control lines.

The Allen brothers, Tony and Glenn, started their business back in 1956 with a vision of producing performance sailing hardware driven by their passion for sailing and their love of engineering, innovation and technology. The first fittings, which they designed and made for their own race boats, were such an improvement on everything then in use, that they were persuaded to set up full production to meet the demand of the growing dinghy sailing market.

The company has grown in the past 60 plus years to become a major exporter, selling high-performance sailing hardware to around the World. R&D, design, prototyping, toolmaking and production takes place at the Allen factory in Southminster, Essex, UK, which is now run by Tony Allen’s daughter Liz Adams along with a highly skilled and dedicated Management Team.

We have invested heavily in computer-aided design and manufacturing, and were one of the early adopters of 3D printing for rapid prototyping in 2010. In 2018 and 2020, we updated our vertical machining centres and invested in new production planning software to improve output and customer service. This gives us the ability to match the high quality/low production volume demands of boat builders for both in catalogue and custom products. 

Our products are now the go to choice for many of the Worlds leading boat builders, as well as, many leading industrial companies in a variety of sectors.
